Power Department seeks details of action plan to meet power needs in rainy season
NEW DELHI: To ensure that the Capital does not face a power crisis again, the Delhi Government’s Power Department has asked the power distribution companies to identify the likely locations of fault that might occur during the rainy season. In a communiqué, BSES has been advised to compile the information on the basis of problem areas noticed during the past few days. The Department has also sought additional information on the detailed action plan submitted by the company as per the instructions of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit earlier this week. The Department has further directed the company to provide a list of fault-prone feeders and transformers and specific action plan on each of them. According to Power Department officials, the discom has been asked to ensure that there are no breakdowns and power cuts during the rainy season. Following widespread complaints over the functioning of the call centres, the Department has sought details about the average call-waiting time and maximum call-waiting time and other parameters of efficiency which a call centre has been maintaining. It has also asked for the number of call attendants working at a time at the call centres before June 30 and thereafter. The discom has also been asked to publicise the numbers of the monitoring centres and the telephone numbers of all officials connected with the operation and maintenance as well as the zone in-charges for the convenience of the public. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
