Mother, three children found dead in sump

Bangalore: A mother and her three children were found dead in a water sump at their residence near Parappana Agrahara here on Friday.

The police suspect that the mother killed her children before killing herself. The bodies were discovered around 12.30 p.m. at Rayasandra. The Parappana Agrahara police identified the victims as Chand Bi (35), Syed Riyaz (7), Syed Siraz (4) and Syed Sameer (2).

The victims hailed from Bagalkot. Chand Bi’s husband, Hassan, was a lorry contractor who had suffered financial losses, forcing him to sell all his vehicles at throwaway prices in Bagalkot. A year ago, he migrated to the city with his family and was staying in a rented house, working as a construction labourer, according to the police.
