In Passing

SUCHITRA BEHAL

Politically inclined

Almost like every other celebrity in town, actor Sunjay Dutt too, felt a heightened sense of duty to the country after the terror attacks in Mumbai. His response- to join politics. Was he prepared for this new role? Not really, as he concedes. “I was to be briefed but it did not happen. Someone suggested I begin talking about my father, others said I speak about Muhammed bin Tughlaq. But as I sat awaiting my turn other speakers picked up on both the topics and I thou ght to myself ‘these were supposed to be my lines’. But finally when I spoke I spoke straight from my heart and I think it touched a chord with the audience.” But all that aside, Dutt feels that he can still make a difference to peoples lives.

Bollywood Calling

She has done all the stunts in her make or break film. After all given her lineage anything less would be unexpected. Actor Shruti Hasan, is keeping her fingers crossed for ‘Luck’ her first Bollywood part. Also there was a minor question of clothes, “I’m alright wearing a bikini onscreen and showing some skin, I don’t know why a great deal is being made about it. But my dad should not be in the same film.” But that’s about as far as it gets. Hasan who is also completing the musical score for her first home production where her father is playing the lead role, remarked. “You can imagine how nervous I am. Composing music was a different experience but working with Dad- that was challenging,” said she.

Lookout

She is a die hard fan of reality shows and sees no contradiction in terms of joining one herself. Choreographer and film maker, Farah Khan claims that it is the best way to grab continuous eyeballs and remain in the “public eye. After all I can only do so many films a year being part of these grand shows as a judge is a great way to remain in the public eye” said she. “Not only are reality shows entertaining but it is fascinating to see what people are willing to do for attention.” But in between all these shows the lady is busy working on the script of her next film. “Of course it will have Shah Rukh. We work so well together it will be stupid of me not to work with him,” said Khan. But for those wanting a break in tinsel town, Khan and her team could be the big break they are looking for.
