Ashwin surprises Gopinath

Coimbatore: Salem’s C. Ashwin pulled off the biggest upset of the day defeating hot favourite N. Gopinath of Coimbatore 10-21, 21-18, 21-19 in the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Aircel Tamil Nadu senior State badminton tournament at the Jenney Club courts here on Saturday.

District-level basketball

The 55th annual district-level basketball tournament for mini boys, junior boys and girls and men for the S. Venkatakrishnan Trophy will be held at the YMCA floodlit basketball courts from July 6 to 19.
