NEW DELHI: Four young men were arrested by the Delhi police over the weekend for allegedly trying to kidnap a 22-year-old woman near the Welcome metro rail station while she was returning from office. The woman, a resident of Shahdara, was walking towards the nearby parking area when she objected to lewd remarks passed at her by a group of four men. The men allegedly tried to drag her into their vehicle. As she shouted, some passers-by and policemen came to her rescue. The four men -- identified as Shakir, Rashid, Shibbu and Hashim -- have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and assault with attempt to outrage the modesty of a woman. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
