Distance education gets another patron
The M.Phil, Ph.D. and various other courses offered by the Dravidian University, Chittoor district, are made available to students of other places in the State through off-campus mode. In Vijayawada, the Prabhas Degree College study centre has started offering these courses to the local students. The Dravidian University has already recognised Prabhas as their official study centre for all research programmes and courses. D. Rama Rao, director of the Prabhas Educational Institutions, located at Kedareswarapet, Vijayawada, says that they will also bring within the reach of local students all UG and PG courses being offered by the Dravidian University. Established at Kuppam and known for its popularity in five States, the Dravidian University has brought out various innovative courses in the off-campus mode. Mr. Rao says that the distance education courses being offered at their study centre are M.Phil and Ph.D (Telugu, philosophy, history, sociology, political science, economics, English, public administration, mathematics, commerce, psychology, physical education, journalism, computer science, education, library science, management, biotechnology, physics, organic chemistry and so on).
The last date for admission into these courses is July 24 and the interested candidates can contact 0866-2537879, 2532525 or 9441402525. Also, M.Sc. courses in bio-technology, medical microbiology, chemistry, bio-informatics and other courses are open for admission. In the off-campus mode, classes will be conducted for the enrolled candidates five day a week.
