TTD to bring out album soon

Moment of glory: Lata Mangeshkar being presented a ‘veena’ by Finance Minister K. Rosaiah in Mumbai on Sunday.

TIRUPATI: The TTD has begun the process to bring out a music album of Lata Mangeshkar on the compositions of saint-poet Tallapaka Annamacharya.

The recording of the kritis on Sunday got underway at Andheri-based Mayur Swaralatha Recording Studio in Mumbai.

The album will comprise only seven compositions, which the saint-poet had written in Sanskrit. Named as “Annamacharya Sankeerthana Sapthakam”, the album will be ready for release in two months. Barring the seven Sanskrit verses, all the 32,000 songs, which the great Vaggeyakara had composed, are in Telugu praising Lord Venkateswara.

The music score for the album is by music director Mayuresh Pai. Among the VVIPs who were present for the ‘Muhurat’ at the recording studio were Finance Minister K. Rosaiah and TTD Trust Board Chairman D.K. Adikesavulu.

‘Noble task’

In her brief address on the occasion, Lata said she felt blessed to associate herself with the noble task of bringing out the music album under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

She recalled her visits to Tirumala temple four decades ago as the ‘Asthana Vidwan’ of the TTD.
