Veludaiyur HSS is overall winner

CHENNAI: Veludaiyur HSS, Thiruvarur was declared the overall winner after the super-league phase in the Sathyabama Challenger Trophy ‘Teens 100’ volleyball tournament conducted by the Kanchipuram DVA.

Veludaiyur, Don Bosco HSS, Perambur and Government HSS, Barur had tied on points, each getting seven and the winner was identified on the quotient rule.

Under this Veludaiyur school won the Rs 10,000 first prize, Don Bosco was placed second (Rs 7000) and Government school, Barur third (Rs. 5,000).

Government HSS, Tittachery and A.J.S. Nidhi HSS, Alandur were placed next to win Rs 4000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively.

Following prizes were also given away: Most promising players: Prasanth (Vallur Gurukulam, Tambaram), Sridhar (Govt HSS, Tittachery), Subhash (PSHSS, Myl), Yuvaraj (Anjuham HSS Mambalam), Sagaya Amalraj (Don Bosco Perambur), Venkatesan (Concordia, Vaniyambadi), Sathish (Govt HSs, Ammoor), S.Franklin Prabu (St Mary’s A.N. Mangalam), Yuvaraj (A.J.S. Nidhi, Alandur), V. Murugan (Govt HSS Kadambathur).

Special awards: R.B. Sankaran (Santhome), P. Nagandhramani (M.S.P. Dindigul), Amarnath (St Joseph’s Cuddalore), M. Vijayakumar (GHSS, Walaja), Prabakar (St Peter’s Royapuram), S. Gokul (A.J.S. Nidhi), Madhavan (GHSS, Tittachery), Alwin (Don Bosco, Perambur), Praisudan (Veludaiyur Thiruvarur), Sivaprakasam (GHSS Barur).
