Afghan Army chief in capital

NEW DELHI: Chief of Staff of the Afghan National Army General Bismillah Khan Mohammadi arrived here on Monday on a four-day visit.

Gen. Mohammadi’s visit comes as part of the commitment between the two countries for regular exchange of visits at the political, diplomatic and military levels.

Gen. Mohammadi will interact with senior military and civilian defence officials.

“India shares warm and friendly relations with Afghanistan based on historical ties and traditional linkages. India supports a sovereign, stable, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan and is committed to building strategic partnership in all dimensions to this effect,” noted an official statement on the visit. The General was received by Chief of the Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor.
