New Delhi: The government has appointed 12 Additional Solicitors-General (ASG) – seven for the Supreme Court and five for High Courts. The seven ASGs, who will work along with Attorney-General G.E. Vahanvati and Solicitor-General Gopal Subramaniam, are: senior advocate Indira Jaising, first woman to be appointed to the post; Mohan Parasaran, Parag Tripathi, P. P. Malhotra, Haren P. Raval, Mohan Jain and Gourav Banerji. The ASGs for High Courts are: Amarjit Singh Chandhiok (Delhi High Court); Darius J. Khambatta (Bombay High Court); Farook M. Razack for the Calcutta High Court with additional charge of Orissa, Bihar and northeast; M. Ravindran for the Madras High Court with additional charge of Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and Ashok Nigam (Allahabad High Court). © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
