Geriatric care at medical college

KOCHI: The Co-operative Medical College, Kalamassery, will open a geriatric out-patient department on Friday. As part of the inauguration, the department of internal medicine in the college will be organising a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on current trends in geriatrics and gerontology. At a press meet in this regard, Roy A. Kallivayalil, principal of the medical college, said the problems of the elderly that go unattended are becoming part of society. An exclusive department of geriatrics would also come up in the college soon, he said.

P.S. Gopinathan, judge, High Court of Kerala, will inaugurate the geriatric division of the college.
