Jai Bharath College Arackappady The Hangout: The Library Rush Hour: 12 to 1.30 pm Where it’s at: The main block of the college houses the library and it is located on the third floor. Needless to mention, the library is quite spacious and its appearance is very sporty. What’s to love:
Committed to academic excellence, the Jai Bharath College is an institution owned and managed by Jai Bharath Trust with a vision of “grooming students with the ability to think critically and creatively.” The mission of the college is to empower students to be innovative, tech-savvy and to be experimental in all their endeavours. The college, situated at Arackappady along the Perumbavoor - Kolenchery Road in the north-eastern suburbs of Kochi, is an ISO 9001-2000 certified institution today. The college, affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, has various schools to cater to its varied academic programmes. Apart from the spacious classrooms, the Jai Bharath campus also boasts of facilities such as an auditorium equipped with projectors, cameras and AV equipment. Since the college is located in the suburbs, the college authorities have made it a point to ply buses from various places such as Ernakulam, Perumbavoor, Aluva and Kakkanad. A well-equipped computer lab and a state-of-the-art communication lab are also unique to the college. However, it’s the library that’s regarded as the most preferred destination in the campus. The air-conditioned library is well-stocked with books on almost all subjects and subscribes to periodicals, dailies and journals of national and international repute. The timing is also quite convenient. for all as its open from 8 am to 8 pm. What’s not to:
Even though one can visibly feel the freedom that students enjoy in the campus, the college authorities are quite vigilant and are bent on maintaining the harmony of the place. Ragging is strictly prohibited and students are advised to have regular attendance. As part of discipline there are specific and separate uniforms for undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA students. Alternatives:
Apart from the library, the 30-acre Jai Bharath campus has rolled out numerous hangouts for its inhabitants. The car parking zone, the canteen, the open area in and around the utility store, the long corridors in front of class rooms, the computer lab etc are some of the other popular hangouts within the campus. sunilnaliyath@gmail.com
