Calling all rock musicians!
If you're tired of singing to your mirror, or entertaining your unappreciative friends with your superlative musical talent, if you believe all that is stopping you from having your name right up there in the Hall of Fame of rock music is a band of your own, MTV might be able to help. On July 9, the auditions for their latest reality series - "Kurkure Desi Beats Rock On with MTV" - will kick-start in Kolkata. As long as you can sing in Hindi, or play any instrument, MTV is willing to listen. It could be a guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, violin, trumpet, dhol, sarangi, flute, tabla, or even a thaali. The judges, who include Kailash Kher, Ram Sampath and MTV VJ Nikhil Chinapa, will wield the axe as contestants compete as individuals and in groups every week on the show. The grand prize includes an album deal with India's leading record label, T-series, a music video produced by MTV, a state-of-theart instrument set and a mega concert. After Kolkata, the search will move to Bangalore on July 12, Delhi on July 15 and Bombay on July 19. Auditions will start at 9 a.m., and the venues will have basic instruments.
