Joginipally Bhaskar Institute of Institute of Engineering Technology (JBIET)
A bindaas principal, top of the line Heads of Department, a sprawling campus amidst lush greenery and a satisfactory security system makes Joginipally Bhaskar Institute of Institute of Engineering Technology (JBIET) a favourite with the students.
The institute is a little beyond the Chilkur Balaji Temple but is one of the closest to the city. The students don’t mind travelling this distance as the place is pollution free, is serene and offers some of the best courses in the engineering field. JBIET shares its campus with four other engineering colleges from the same group.
What’s to love:
Head to Central…canteen
After travelling for hours from home when the stomach growls, with no second thoughts they head to one of the four canteens which they claim serves ‘best food amongst all colleges.’
“They serve the best butter-naan in the city along with chole. Prices are low and we will stage hunger strikes if the canteen bhaiya decides to leave or the management wants to change him,” says Radhakrishna.
Free-way education
The ‘open system’ of the college is what they all love and the only time they crib is when they need to enter the library only ‘to meet a grumpy man.’ Same goes with the college clerks.
The students travel to college by bus from various pick up points in the city and they have nothing to complain. “The buses are pretty good. We also have RTC buses especially meant for our college,” says Praveen. He adds, we have friends coming from places like ECIL, BHEL and Lingampally.
Favourite classes
And when the students want a break from the classes all they need to do is walk up the lecturers and seek some free time. What the students miss they make up in their lapse classes. “Attendance for lapse classes are always strong. We make sure we don’t miss them even if we miss our regular classes,” says Ashish.
Hangout plans
And where do they hang out? “Mostly on the campus, It’s like a park. We have this area with sufficient trees that provide the shade,” says Rashmi. And when they are tired of this place, they make a fool-proof plan to convince the guard at gate with “sir said no classes.”
After a nod from the guard, the tough part begins. “Everything needs to be planned in advance. Especially if we decide to go out, transport is a challenge. We need a newspaper to check movie schedule and most of the times we land in Eeshwar. It’s the nearest to the college,” says Ashish.
Extra-curricular activities
Besides watching movies, bunking classes and visiting the canteen, the students love the extra-curricular activities of the college. “We have regular blood donation camps,” says Nikita. “And not to forget various sports,” adds Praveen.
What’s not to love:
We need
Maybe a mini theatre for ourselves in the college where they can screen the latest good movie. Also in demand are good restrooms with mirrors for a little touch-up before heading out of the college.
Alternative:
When we overdo the canteen and field trips we sit and chat in any empty classroom.
