Sports events planned for senior citizens, grandchildren

PUDUCHERRY: In commemoration of its 11th Annual Day, the Pondicherry Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association will conduct sports events for senior citizens and their grandchildren this month.

For women, a kolam competition has been scheduled at 8 a.m., musical chairs at 10 a.m. and cooking competition at 3 p.m. on November 15. All these competitions will be held on the Puducherry Society for the Care of Aged (PONCARE) premises.

The 100 m walk and musical chairs events for men will be held at St. Patricks Higher Secondary School, Saradambal Nagar, on November 22 at 7.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. respectively. Carom doubles competition will be held at PONCARE at 3 p.m. the same day.

The contests open to grandchildren are lemon race, to be held at 7.30 a.m. and musical chairs at 8 a.m. on November 29 at St. Patricks Higher Secondary School. A painting competition will be held the same day at 9 a.m. at PONCARE. These competitions will be conducted for two categories of participants: those in the 6-10 age group and 11-15 age group.

They are open to only grandchildren of the members of the association upon production of age proof, a release said.
