Protocol violation

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Bangalore North Lok Sabha Member D.B. Chandre Gowda, irked by the alleged protocol violation, vented his ire at railway officials at the inauguration of the remodelled Kengeri Railway Station here on Friday.

“I need not learn any lessons from these officials and I have been a parliamentarian for over 45 years. They should know the protocol,” Mr. Chandre Gowda said apparently referring to the last-minute inclusion of his name in the invitation ato the function.

According to protocol, the local Lok Sabha member should preside over functions organised by the Union Government. However, in this function, Mr. Gowda was invited as a “guest of honour” along with H.D. Kumaraswamy, who represents Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency.

Mr. Muniyappa assured that such mistakes will not happen in future. “I have given clear instruction to officials to follow the protocol properly,” he pacified Mr. Gowda.
