KOCHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has called for cooperation from internal vigilance units of public sector organisations. A vigilance awareness drive is currently on to this effect, said S. Shyni, Superintendent of Police, CBI, Kochi. Addressing the media here, Ms. Shyni said that more information flow from these internal bodies and the public would help the agency to check corruption and abuse of power. Even though the CBI unit has been registering an average of 20 cases every year, the two special courts could dispose of only 15 cases. At present, there are 205 cases pending. This is why the CBI has requested for a third court, she said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
