‘People responsible for political crisis’

Staff Correspondent

Chitradurga: Congress leader H. Anjaneya has blamed the people for the present political crisis in the State, saying it is they who have elected such “problematic” leaders.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, he said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s support for the Reddy brothers from Bellary had backfired. “It was he (Yeddyurappa) who promoted the Reddy brothers in the beginning and allowed them to take control of the area. Today, these very leaders have become a thorn in his flesh.” Criticising the BJP Government in the State, Mr. Anjaneya said never in Karnataka’s history had such hunger for power been witnessed. He claimed that only the Congress could offer Karnataka a stable and people-friendly Government.

He alleged that illegal mining was rampant in the district, while the administration was a silent spectator. He urged Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas to take serious note of the matter.

Earlier, Mr. Anjaneya said the Congress would be launching its membership drive, in Bharamasagar hobli from Sunday.
