CHENGAM: A man killed his three sons and committed suicide at a forested area in Ayodyakuppam near Chengam in Tiruvannamalai district on Friday. Police said Palani (35) was a resident of Neepathurai near Chengam. He was married to Vali (25). The couple had three children, Paneerselvam (7), Srinivasan (5) and Jeeva (2). On Tuesday, Palani, along with his wife and children, had gone to his mother-in-law’s house at Ayodyakuppam, two km from Neepathurai. On Friday, Palani and Vali fought over a domestic issue. Angered over the issue, Palani left the house with his sons. They were walking through a forest near Ayodyakuppam. While there, Palani poisoned his sons. Paneerselvam and Srinivasan died on the spot. Jeeva was fighting for life. Police said Palani then went to his house and hanged himself. People who were in the forest noticed Jeeva and admitted him to Government Hospital at Chengam. The boy was later referred to the Government Hospital at Tiruvannamalai and died while on treatment. Mel Chengam police have registered a case. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
