Prison inmate dies in hospital

CUDDALORE: An inmate of the Cuddalore Central Prison, who attempted suicide on the jail premises on Wednesday, died in a hospital here on Thursday.

The police said Venkatesan, accused in a murder case, was lodged in the prison on August 30, 2009. He climbed a mango tree and made the suicide attempt. Fellow inmates and warders rescued him and took him to hospital. — Special Correspondent
