Thulasi in last 16

BANGALORE: Top seed P.C. Thulasi of Kerala sent Devika Ravindra of Karnataka packing 21-15, 21-10 and entered the last 16 of the 34th National junior badminton championship at Mandya on Friday.

The second seed and defending champion N. Sikki Reddy of Andhra Pradesh proved too good for Reshma Karthik at 21-11, 21-13.

Arati Sara Sunil of Kerala, stopped another big hope of the State, Uttara Prakash at 18-21, 21-18, 21-17. The eighth-seeded Bangalore girl, Jacqueline Kunnath, also made her exit in the third round, losing to Rituparna Das 21-13, 8-21, 18-21.

The third seed, Saili Rane of Air-India humbled another Karnataka girl, Poorvisha S. Ram 21-16, 21-15.

The top seed, B. Sumeet Reddy of AP, had a tough going in the second round of the boys’ singles. After dropping the first game, he prevailed over Sunil Verma of Karnataka 15-21, 21-9, 21-13.
