Workshop on mathematics

VISAKHPATNAM: A two-day national level workshop on ‘mathematical techniques and applications in engineering problems’ was inaugurated at GMR Institute of Technology, Rajam, on Friday. The workshop is being conducted by Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities.

Addressing the delegates during the inaugural session T.K.V. Iyengar, Professor, Department of Mathematics, NIT, Warangal, said that without good knowledge in mathematics one cannot study and understand the concepts of engineering.

He urged the delegates from various colleges to update their knowledge in mathematics.

Former Senior Professor from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, K. Srinivasa Rao, former Professor from Ramanujam Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics, University of Madras, Geetha Srinivasa Rao and Scientist from NGRI, Hyderabad, D. Sri Nagesh were the resource persons.

Principal (In-Charge) of the college P. Srinivasa Rao, Chief Administrative Officer L.M. Laxman Murthy and Head of the Department R. Suryanarayana were present at the inaugural session.

Over 60 delegates from various colleges attended the workshop.
