Venting their ire: Members of Basava Kendra burning effigies of Ministers G. Janardhan Reddy and G. Karunakara Reddy in Bidar on Friday.

BIDAR: Members of Basava Kendra, Bidar, staged a protest here on Friday urging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command to retain B.S. Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister of the State and to initiate disciplinary action against dissident Ministers including G. Janardhan Reddy and G. Karunakara Reddy.

The protesters accused Mr. Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Karunakara Reddy of causing political imbroglio in the State. In a memorandum, the protesters said that the Reddy brothers of Bellary were trying to topple Mr. Yeddyurappa from his post at a time when he was trying to restore normality in the flood-affected areas of north Karnataka.

The dissident BJP MLAs had forgotten their responsibility and were enjoying their stay in hotels and resorts when the flood-affected people were living in distress, they said.

“The people of north Karnataka should teach a lesson to such MLAs,” they said.

The protesters brunt effigies of Mr. Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Karunakara Reddy at Basaveshwara Chowk.
