Husband suspect in young woman’s murder

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Even as schoolteacher Umadevi’s murder in Vijaynagar is still fresh in memory, a young homemaker was murdered in the crowded Kamakshamma Layout near Yelahanka here on Thursday.

Bhagya (20) was found with multiple stab wounds on chest and neck in the morning.

Yelahanka police suspect the involvement of her husband Raju who is reported to be missing.

The couple rented their house from a businessman three months ago.

“They said they are from Mysore. Except for their names, we don’t know any other details,” the house owner reportedly told the police.

The murder came to light when a regular customer of Raju, finding the door locked, informed neighbours.

The latter peered through the windows to see Bhagya’s body lying in a pool of blood in the hall.

All jewellery on her person was intact.

The police said the murder weapon was a screwdriver.

Neighbours told the police that they did not hear anything unusual and that Ms. Bhagya never opened to door to strangers.

Duped

Sakamma (82), a resident of Lakshminarayana Nagar in Kempegowda Nagar police station limits, lost her gold chain after a woman duped her near a wedding hall near her house on Wednesday night.
