Says party getting isolated from the people

‘Congress facing

the bypolls

with unity’

KOLLAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has said the people of Kerala have become fed up with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) rule in the State.

Inaugurating a meeting to commemorate the 30th death anniversary of the former DCC president P.A. Aziz here on Friday, Mr. Chennithala said with passing of each day the CPI(M) was getting more and more isolated from the people. That was because the party was not toeing the people’s line. The CPI(M)-led government had belied the expectations of the people.

Because of this, the people were using every opportunity they got to register their protest against the CPI(M) and the LDF. This reaction of the people should be an eye-opener to the Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF), he said.

Mr. Chennithala said unlike in the past, the Congress was united now. It was with this unity that the party was facing the Assembly byelections in three constituencies.

Congress leader M.M. Hassan distributed the P.A. Aziz Memorial Endowments to the beneficiaries at the function. N. Peethambara Kurup, MP, and DCC president Kadavur Sivadasan spoke.
