MYSORE: The Mysore-based All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), a premier institute dealing with communication disorders, is hosting a three-day National Women’s Science Congress here from November 7. The event covers the entire spectrum of science, engineering and technology (both traditional and modern). A new theme of speech, language and hearing sciences and disorders had been introduced this year giving due recognition to the science of communication and its disorders. The focal theme of the Science Congress 2009 is the need for women leadership in science and technology. The Women’s Science Congress would be the biggest congregation of select women scientists of India from all fields of science, engineering and technology. The event aims to bring women to the forefront of science, engineering, technology, industrial entrepreneurship and management, and empower them to create a frontline of women scientists. The plan is to bring all women scientists together and instil a sense of pride and camaraderie among them and guide them to the position of power and leadership. Saroj Chooramani Gopal, Vice-Chancellor, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University, Lucknow and K. Sudha Rao, former Vice-Chancellor, KSOU, Mysore will be among those present. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
