Power supply to KWA pumphouses cut

Staff Reporter

KOLLAM: Water supply to many parts of Kollam and adjoining areas will be affected from Thursday as the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) stopped power supply to twenty-eight pumphouses of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) on Friday citing non-payment of dues.

The pumphouses fall under the Shakthikulangara, Perinad, Kadappakada and Kilikollur section offices of the KSEB. The amount due was Rs.21 lakh and payment was pending for the past two to six months, KSEB sources said.

The board had been sending reminders but no response was forthcoming. Supply was snapped as after serving notices in this connection, sources said.

Notices had also been issued to pumphouses coming under the Pallimukku and Ayathil sections of the KWA.
