KALPETTA: One person belonging to a tribal community died after he reportedly consumed spurious liquor on Friday. Two others were admitted to the taluk hospital at Sulthan Bathery. The police identified the deceased as Kunjiri, 49, of Panappadi Kattunayakka colony at Kalloor, near Sulthan Bathery, in the district. The body was found from a paddy field near the colony. Villagers said Kunjiri might have chanced upon a can full of spirit hidden in the field by members of the spirit lobby. Those undergoing treatment were identified as Kullan, 60, and Chandran, 49, of the Panappadi Kattunayakka colony at Kalloor. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
