A nightmare: The badly damaged portion of the Krishnagiri-Puducherry National Highway near Mathur Government Girls Higher Secondary School. — KRISHNAGIRI: The badly damaged Krishnagiri-Puducherry National Highway No. 66 will be repaired soon at a cost of Rs. 4 crore, an official of the National Highways project told ‘The Hindu’ on Friday. The official said that the tenders for the repairs had been finalised and it had been sent for the approval of the Union Government. Work order“As soon as we receive the approval, work order will be issued to the contractors and the works will start,” he said. The official said that the highway would be widened. Tender for the widening would be called in March 2010 and it would take at least a year from now for the commencement of the project. The damaged road has become worse due to the recent rain.
