Plea to hike aid to accident victims’ families

HYDERABAD: P. Subba Reddy, MLC, on Friday appealed to the government and APSRTC to increase the compensation to Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of three students who were killed when a bus ran over them on November 5 in Anantapur district.

In a statement here, he said the assistance given by the government and RTC of Rs.1.5 lakh to each family was ‘insufficient’, as parents of the victims were poor. Mr. Reddy demanded sanction of five acres of agricultural land and government employment to a member of each family and stringent action against those responsible for the accident.
