Central team compliments SHGs

Good job: Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance, G.C. Chaturvedi, at an exhibition organised by SHGs at Jangampally village in Nizamabad district on Friday.

JANGAMPALLY (NIZAMABAD DT.): The Central official team led by the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance in Government of India, G.C. Chaturvedi, here on Friday, expressed pleasure over the Self Help Group activities in the district. The team comprising Mr. Chaturvedi, the Joint Secretary K.V. Eapen and others, on the invitation of Andhra Bank chairman and managing director R. S. Reddy, interacted with the SHG members on various issues relating to maintenance of groups, financial assistance and problems in repayment of loans. They went round 25 stalls of different commodities which were put on display at an exhibition.

Mr. Reddy said as the SHG members were promptly repaying the loans his bank was prepared to extend any amount of loan to the groups. “At present, we limited the maximum amount of loan to each group to Rs.5 lakhs. But, we are thinking of increasing it Rs.10 lakhs in future”, he said. The deputy general manager of Andhra Bank, Nizamabad zone, B.S. Rama Rao, said the Jangampally branch extended Rs.3 crore loan to 286 SHGs in the village and its neighbouring villages. District Collector K. Sunitha and other officials were also present.
