Arogyasri dialysis wards inaugurated

HYDERABAD: The Arogyasri dialysis ward for patients with end-stage kidney ailments at Gandhi Hospital was thrown open on Friday. With the imposition of election code of conduct due to the upcoming GHMC elections, the inaugural event was a muted affair, as the Health Ministers stayed away from the proceedings.

Principal Secretary for Health J. Satyanarayana, who inaugurated the dialysis wards, informed that similar Arogyasri dialysis wards would come up at Vijayawada, Guntur, Warangal, Kakinada and Tirupati. The Arogyasri dialysis facility at Nizams Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) is likely to be inaugurated between December 1 and 5, he said.

Similar dialysis facilities at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) and King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam were also inaugurated on Friday. Authorities informed that 111 dialysis machines will be procured under the Arogyasri project. Gandhi Hospital has 18 dialysis machines while KGH and OGH have 15 dialysis machines each.
