Minor fire at MIT women’s hostel

TAMBARAM: A minor fire broke out at the women’s hostel of Madras Institute of Technology in Chromepet on Friday morning.

The fire broke out around 10.50 a.m. in one of the bathrooms on the second floor of the hostel after a water heater was left unattended.

It damaged the power cables and noticing the smoke students informed the Fire Control Room.

Only one room was damaged and there was no major loss, Firemen said.
