Returns disappointed leaving leaders red-faced Officials stick to rules, refuse to accept papers HYDERABAD: A traffic snarl in city snapped the political career of Telugu Desam candidate from Hydernagar division, Sudish Rambhotla in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections on Friday, the last day of filing nominations. Projected as a possible mayoral candidate if party managed a majority, Mr. Sudish of Color Chips, an animation and film production company, was informed about his candidature at noon. After completing the requisite formalities that included collecting Form A and B from the party office, he was on his way to the municipal office when he got stuck in a traffic jam. By the time he could reach the Returning Officer’s office, it was well past 3 p.m., the deadline for filing nominations. Officials refused to accept his papers citing the delay. He had to return disappointed while the party leaders appeared red-faced. The party is planning to give the Form B to another party candidate who had filed papers as a dummy. After Mr. Sudish missed the bus and former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav preferring not to contest, the name of Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, candidate from Saidabad division, is doing the rounds as mayoral candidate. However, a TDP spokesman clarified that it had not propped anyone for the post. This would be decided after the GHMC elections. The spokesman said the TDP has finally come to a seat-sharing understanding with the two Left parties. Both of them have been given three divisions each. While the CPI (M) was allotted Kavadiguda, Cherlapally and Vengal Rao Nagar, the CPI got Bagh Lingampally, Yapral and Jagadgirigutta. Ten moreThe party released the third list having 28 names at 4.30 a.m. on Friday. After leaving six divisions to Left parties, the party has to nominate ten more candidates. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
