3G services by month-end

GUNTUR: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will rollout Third-Generation services in Andhra Pradesh by month-end and it will be implemented in a phased manner in 29 cities to fully cover all places by March-end 2010.

Making this announcement at the inaugural of the Customer Service Centre at Kothapeta in the city on Friday evening, BSNL Chief General Manager T.N. Sudheendra Kumar said that video-conferencing and faster internet access would be available when this service was launched.

The cellular services were growing at a healthy speed, he said, and pointed out that while 38.6 lakh connections were functional, 19 lakh additional connections would be added by March-end.

Guntur Telecom General Manager V. Ramesh was present on the occasion.

Stressing on the efforts being made to improve the quality of calls and coverage geographically, he said that optimisation process was being taken up in all densely populated towns and cities.
