Maudany alleges smear campaign by UDF

KOCHI: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Abdul Nasir Maudany said here on Friday that his party had lodged two complaints with the Election Commission against the United Democratic Front (UDF) for resorting to what he alleged “smear and misinformation campaign” in the Alappuzha Assembly constituency where the party had fielded a candidate for the bypoll.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Maudany alleged that after the public campaign came to an end on Thursday evening, the UDF, along with the People’s Front, had embarked on a door-to-door misinformation campaign that the PDP had withdrawn from the fray in the Alappuzha Assembly constituecy.

He said the PDP candidate was in the fray as a strong contender.
