Return to constituencies to oversee relief, MLAs urged

Special Correspondent

Shashil G. Namoshi

GULBARGA: Chairman of the High Power Committee for the Implementation of the Nanjundappa Committee recommendations Shashil G. Namoshi on Friday appealed to the party MLAs camping in five-star hotels and holiday resorts in Hyderabad and Goa to return to their respective constituencies and supervise the relief and rehabilitation work taken up in the flood and rain-hit areas immediately.

Wrong signal

Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Namoshi said that the legislators staying away from their respective constituencies, when the people were in distress and required their help, would send wrong signals to the voters who had elected them by reposing their faith in the policies and programmes of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Priority

He said that their shortcomings about the leadership issue or other issues could be discussed later when the situation returned to normality and the first priority of all the legislators should be the welfare of the people in their constituencies.

“We will be failing in our responsibility and duties if we fail to stand by the people who had voted us at this critical juncture,” he said.

Dissidence

On the dissidence in the party, Mr. Namoshi said that the party central leadership was at the job of ending the dissidence in the party and had already made it clear that there would not be any change in the leadership of Mr. Yeddyurappa. He hoped that all the issues would be sorted out within two days.
