Lessons to be learnt from Satyam scam

HYDERABAD: There were many lessons the Indian corporate sector could learn from the Satyam Computers scam, speakers said during the release of a book titled ‘The Double Life of Ramalinga Raju’ here on Friday night.

Dean of the Indian School of Business Ajit Rangnekar observed that all business and governance models followed in India were western and there was an immediate need to take re-look at them and evolve models suited to our own environment.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Andhra Pradesh chapter president Y. Harish Chandra Prasad said Satyam scam held a lesson not only to entrepreneurs but also to individuals like employees to inculcate contentment.

Author of the book and senior journalist Kingshuk Nag said the process of penning the book was a fascinating experience for him. The world knows only what Ramalinga Raju had confessed to, but the “real story” could only be revealed by Mr. Raju himself, which he might not do ever in his lifetime, he opined. It was land that had motivated Mr. Raju to do what all he had done, he said.
