GURGAON: Galina Karpova created two world records in the World powerlifting championship here on Friday. The Russian lifted 320 kg to set a new mark in the women’s +90 kg ‘squat’ competition and did a total of 745 kg for another world record to claim the gold medal. Norwegian Hildeborg Hugdal also set new world mark in the bench press event. Hugdal, who lifted 201.5 kg for the record, bagged the silver on the basis of her overall performance. The results: Men: 110kg: 1. Maxim Barkhatov (Rus) 1050 kg; 2. Oleksiy Rokochiy (Ukr) 1017.5 kg; 3. Jacek Wiak (Pol) 1015 kg; 9. Nagarajan Shanmugavadivelu (Ind) 680 kg. Women: 90kg: 1. Valeria Shcheglova (Rus) 655 kg; 2. Ielja Strik (Ned) 650 kg; Erlina Pacante (Phi) 542.5 kg; 6. Sampa Guha (Ind) 457.5 kg; 9. Amrutha Raj (Ind) 397.5 kg; +90 kg: 1. Galina Karpova (Rus) 745 kg; 2.
