Colleges meet: Kiran wins men’s 200m

BANGALORE: Kiran H.A. of SBM Jain and Shalini Naik of BMS won the 200 metres for men and women respectively on the opening day of the 45th inter-collegiate athletics championship organised jointly by the Directorate of Physical Education, Bangalore University, and National College at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Friday.

Kiran and Al Ameen’s Harish Kumar both clocked 22.3 seconds. However, the judges decided in favour of Kiran. Shalini, however, had no such scare winning in 25.9 seconds.

Pallavi Sukumar for the second time in three days scored over arch rival G.M. Aishwarya in the women’s long jump event. While in the State junior meet on Tuesday, Pallavi jumped 5.60 metres to Aishwarya’s 5.57 metres, on Friday the St Joseph’s lass leapt 5.85 metres to Aishwarya’s (UVCE) 5.25.

Throwball series

The Bangalore District Throwball Association will be organising a throwball series between India and Sri Lanka for men and women.

The matches are scheduled to be held on November 7 and 8 at the Kairalee Nilayam School, Vimanapura.
