Kozhikode: The Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) has clarified that it has no plans to recover the operating profit it had earlier disbursed to dairy farmers. An official release issued by Milma chairman P.P. Gopinathapillai here said Milma had recently begun to earn operating profit by selling value-added milk products in the market, which as a policy was disbursed among the diary farmers in cash and in the form of subsidy for cattle feed. “But Milma has no plans to recover that money from the farmers as was propagated by some people,” said the release. Mr. Pillai said the Malabar union of Milma had distributed Rs. 10 crore among its farmers during the last fiscal year alone. This not distributed by Milma directly to the farmers. “Instead, it is given through the primary milk cooperatives to the farmers and we will continue to give that in the future,” he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
