AITUC to take out Raj Bhavan march

KOTTAYAM: The All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) will take out a Raj Bhavan March on January 1 in protest against the implementation of the India ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (FTA), according to T.J. Angelose, director of the march.

According to him, AITUC State general secretary Kanam Rajendran will take out an awareness jatha from Manjeswaram on December 2. It will culminate at Thiruvananthapuram on December 19.

AITUC national general secretary Gurudas Das Gupta will inaugurate the public meeting to be organised in connection with the conclusion of the ‘jatha’.

The AITUC has come to the conclusion that the India ASEAN FTA will impact not only the farm sector of the State, but also the traditional sectors. Plantation, coir and fisheries sectors will be affected by the ASEAN agreement, according to Mr. Angelose.
