This Day That Age
Steps taken by the Central and State Governments for increasing the agricultural production in the country were reviewed at an informal meeting of the State Agriculture Ministers in New Delhi on November 26. Dr. Punjabrao S. Deshmukh, Union Minister for Agriculture, presided. Among those who attended the meeting were the Agriculture Ministers of Bihar, Bombay, Madras, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh besides State Agriculture Secretaries and Directors of Agriculture. The Agriculture Ministers were of the opinion that a more efficient machinery should be devised to ensure greater co-ordination between the Agriculture Department and the extension agency in the field. It was stated that there should be separate field staff for agriculture. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
