At the children's convention in Fukuoka, Japan...a first person account.
|
I am 11 years old studying in Standard VII in CSI Bain School, Chennai. I was selected by the IJC, as a Junior Ambassador to represent India. There were eight other children on my team. We were to participate in the children's convention in Fukuoka held from July 10 to 24 in Japan.
The theme of the Convention was "We are the bridge". The objective was to learn to appreciate the culture of other countries, to promote understanding, friendship and to nurture international awareness in youth. Attending the convention were 350 children from 45 countries.
We found the Japanese people to be honest, sincere and hard working. Much importance is given to the tea ceremony, which symbolises harmony, purity, peace, respect and tranquillity.
Japanese students have to clean their school daily. They eat lunch prepared in school and the students themselves serve it.
